The New Year, New Man Challenge Hosts:
Jeff Bryant: Growing up in Southern NC, just 20 miles away from downtown Charlotte, Jeff has developed some wonderful passions. One thing is for sure, that he has found no greater joy anywhere than in the greatest gift of Jesus Christ. He can tell you first hand Jesus is a friend that sticks closer than a brother and will never let you down.
This faith brought another great gift into his life in his wife Nicole all the way from the Gateway of Yosemite National Park. This couple and their faith go hand-in-hand with their love for God’s Great Outdoors and their passion to experience it. God’s creation with a full view is where you’ll find them Chasin’ Creation!
Christian Berg: Christian Berg is editor of Petersen’s BOWHUNTING. Berg is an avid hunter and angler, but his biggest outdoor passion is getting close to trophy whitetails with bow in hand. When he’s not hunting or working at “The Modern Bowhunting Authority,” Berg enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, two sons and Goldie, his shed-hunting Labrador retriever.
Brodie Swisher: Brodie is a world champion game caller having won the NRA’S Great American Game Calling Challenge World Championship, known as the Super Bowl of game calling contests. Brodie is also a bowfishing guide and editor of Bowhunting.com. His hunting and game calling seminars and exciting hunting adventure video presentations have been featured at events across the country. Brodie is also an outdoor writer with articles appearing in magazine and Internet columns across the country. For more info visit www.ThruTheSeason.com .
Steve Sorensen: Steve Sorensen has been a puppet, a pauper, a preacher, a poet, a pawn, but what’s most important is that he knows a King. He’s an outdoor writer who pounds on the keyboard because he believes in a Word that’s worth a thousand pictures—and more. He loves that Word, and shares that Word frequently at outdoor events where he speaks, most of which are church-sponsored sportsmen’s dinners. He has written a book called A 30-Day Hunt for Faith, which he designed to help new believers from these events get acquainted with Jesus. His other book, Growing Up With Guns, also communicates the gospel and recently won the 2015 “Best Book Award” from the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association. Steve received the 2015 “Pinnacle Award” from the Professional Outdoor Media Association, and he writes a newspaper column called “The Everyday Hunter®.” His website is www.EverydayHunter.com.
Paul Walerczak: Paul is the founder of Without Excuse Ministries (www.withoutexcuseministries.com), and many refer to him as “Pastor Paul.” His passion is to connect the heart of the outdoorsmen and women with the heart of God. Romans 1:20 is the key verse of scripture for all that Without Excuse Ministries tries to accomplish. Paul was involved in pastoral ministry for 6 years prior to starting Without Excuse Ministries. In January 2010, Paul sensed the Lord leading him to serve alongside Bill Winke at Midwest Whitetail (www.midwestwhitetail.com). Paul is still an active member of the Indiana pro-staff at Midwest Whitetail. In February 2010, God led Paul to create Without Excuse Ministries. Paul spends much of his time traveling throughout the U.S., speaking at wild game dinners, outdoor expos, and sportsmen’s banquets. Paul and his amazing wife Lisa live in Southern Indiana with their seven, soon to be eight children. Above all, Paul and his family welcome the opportunity to share their love for Jesus “Without Excuse”. “As we each step into our own patch of ‘hallowed ground’ to chase various wild game throughout the season, may we take time to marvel and thank our Creator God for each breath we get to enjoy while on the hunt.”
Ryan Graden: Ryan grew up in Central Iowa as a fourth generation hunter following in the footsteps of his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. The Iowa hardwoods and cornfields fueled his hunting passions and had a huge part in who he is today. His outdoor hobbies include hunting (bow and gun), fishing, and trapping. He also writes for the Iowa Sportsmen’s magazine. Currently, Ryan is the Summer Ministries Director at the largest church camp in Iowa, Hidden Acres. They see roughly 20,000 guests come through the doors of the camp allowing the camp staff to serve their needs so they experience the Creator in a new way. God does some amazing things when people are removed from their busy lives to be quiet, still, and listen.
He has an amazing wife, Kristin, of fourteen years and four daughters who are up and coming hunters themselves. The oldest three daughters (Rylee, Brenlie, and Taydem) have already tagged some wonderful deer over the last three years including a 168-inch 12-pointer! Although Ryan loves the outdoors, he realizes that God is much bigger than all of that. His desire is to lead his wife, family, and others towards Christ drives his days and if he can use the outdoors to accomplish that, it’s just a bonus that God has provided.
Jeff Jensen: Pastor Jeff Jensen has served the Evangelical Free Church of Geneva, Nebraska since November 2005. Prior to this, Jeff pastored in the lakes and woods region of central Minnesota for nine years with fishing and hunting literally out his front door. Jeff and his wife Amy have been married for 20 years and have an 8-year old daughter, Katie. Jeff enjoys sports of all kind, especially bowhunting. In a former life, Jeff played and coached college basketball and golf. He still enjoys being involved in youth sports and is now enjoying watching his daughter discover her own talents and interests.
Shawn Ammons: Shawn is the President of Extreme Encounters Inc., a non-profit that trains servant leaders in the great outdoors. His favorite childhood memories are connected to camping, fishing, and hunting. His relationship with God grew every time he went into wild places. Shawn’s childhood was spent in a small North Texas town, where he worked on a cow-calf ranch. It was not uncommon for Shawn to spy on wildlife studying their habitat and behavior before he was old enough to hunt. Shawn’s grandpas were avid outdoorsman—one was a commercial fisherman on the Gulf of Mexico, and the other specialized in fresh water trout fishing. Shawn attended Sterling College in Kansas and received a BA in Education. While at Sterling, Shawn met his wife, Cheryl, who complimented his love for the outdoors. The next twenty-two years blessed them with nine outdoor-enthusiastic children. The Ammons run a rustic servant-leader camp in Kansas called Extreme Kansas Camp. Shawn has a Masters Degree from Moody Bible Institute (Chicago, IL).
Kevin Howard: Kevin in is the owner and president of Howard Communications, Inc., a PR firm that specializes in the Outdoor Industry. Kevin is a lifelong hunter and outdoorsman, working in the industry for over 32 years. Current clients include Birchwood Casey, Browning, Winchester Repeating Arms, Hunters Specialties, Mossy Oak, Can-Am, SPG, D.T. Systems, SCI, SCI Foundation, USCCA and STI International.
